I worked in a very central position at the interface between project managers, team leaders and developers (60+ people).
In addition to insuring developers' work complied with specifications, I was also involved in technical processes redefinition (SVN...)

- Involved in technical specifications and test plans writing
- Code review of each commit
- Troubleshooting of client issues
Some examples of what I produced...
Import script refactoringI wasn't really happy with one of our import scripts. It had been built incrementally, while discussing with the customer's IT provider. The source code was quickly becoming a mess and testing it thoroughly was getting really complicated.
I decided to rewrite the script, and took the opportunity to use that as the basis for a "refactoring" tutorial. I started by identifying bugs and opportunities for improvement in the existing code, then created the basis for a more generic framework for import scripts (aka "let's not reinvent the wheel every time"). |
Investigating attributes' scopesWe were confronted with very strange results when testing a product import script, and bugs didn't seems to follow a discernable pattern.
As I couldn't find any obvious bug in the import script code, I decided to build a test case on a fresh Magento setup, in order to remove most of the variables and figure out first how exactly things are supposed to work in Magento. In the end it turned out Magento's way of handling "website"-scoped attributes was the culprit. I summarized my findings in a PowerPoint slideshow in order to spread the word among our developers. |
